The sun shone at last on a bumper crowd at the New Farmers’ Spring Collective Sale of Agricultural Equipment & Machinery, held last Saturday, 16th March, at the Louth Livestock Market.

The event was a resounding success, with a fantastic turnout from local farmers and dealers both looking to buy and sell. The market buzzed with attendees coming to view the lots outside at the cattle market site and in the cattle sheds from 8am until the start of the sale at noon. The collective sale attracted 126 high quality lots in total with a wide range of entries, including large agricultural machinery and essential livestock equipment.

For those unable to attend in person, the option to participate online via Marteye proved popular. This innovative approach ensured everyone had a chance to get involved in bidding and buying live during the auction even if they were sitting on their tractor and couldn’t attend the sale!

We saw an increased number of successful buys from online bidders achieving good returns for our local farmers and agricultural equipment dealers opening up the sale to a wider audience.

Overall, the sale achieved excellent results, with vendors fetching strong prices for their unwanted machinery. Top lots included tractors and teleporters as highlights of the auction, attracting significant interest and selling well. For example:

  • SOLD £29,500 - 2023 Massey Ferguson M4708 Dyna 2 Tractor
  • SOLD £25,700 - 2014 JCB 536/60 AGS Telehandler
  • SOLD £4,400 - Ifor Williams Livestock Trailer
  • SOLD £6,750 - Krone TwinRotor SWADRO900 Rake
  • SOLD £3,500 - 2018 Massey Ferguson5.2 mtrGrass Tedder
  • SOLD £3,250 - Twose RR470 SingleRotor Rake
Plus plenty of useful livestock equipment and spares. For example:
  • SOLD £2,000 - IAEGalvanised Cattle Crush
  • SOLD £1,750 - RichardWestern 13tDumpTrailer Spares
  • SOLD £1,500 - Muck Grab on Manitou Brackets

“The positive atmosphere and successful outcome are largely thanks to the excellent support from our farming and livestock market clients along with the huge efforts of the Masons Rural and Louth Livestock Market teams” said Russell Jeanes, director of Louth Livestock Market and Masons Rural, who was leading the auctioneering on the day, supported by market auctioneer Ed Middleton and rural surveyor and valuer, Lucy Turner from the Masons Rural team.

“Everyone worked extremely hard to bring the sale together in a short space of time and we really appreciate the support of Lakings Little Food Box for providing refreshments and Lincolnshire Rural Support Network bringing along their Health Hut to offer health checks and support.”

We would like to thank everyone who participated in making the event such a triumph and contributed to the strong sense of community within our Lincolnshire farming community.
