Records smashed at "Partney Fair" Special Sheep Show & Sale 2022

All roads led to Louth Livestock Market last Friday 8th August 2022, with something for every sheep farmer at our 1st Annual Special Show and Sale of Mv and Non-Mv Sheep, formerly known as Partney Fair.

We anticipated a good day with some tremendous runs of sheep - a total of 1252 entered from all the usual consignors. We expected a record number of breeders and ewe lambs on offer and the day itself didn't disappoint. The sun shone and sheep farmers from across the region joined us in droves.

Louth Livestock Market site on London Road was packed with farmers and their families with stock arriving first thing. Mv sheep were on show in the shed and sold through the main cattle ring which was packed. Non-Mv sheep were outside in the pens and sold through the outdoor sheep ring as usual for our weekly Monday Livestock Market.

Records were smashed across the board both in terms of number and prices achieved for vendors.

Highlights included:
MV Breeding rams to 1200gns for Soloby Charollais
MV gimmers to £250 for T Blyth
MV ram lambs to 300 gns for R J Bett
Non mv rams to 800 gns for D J Summers & Summer
Non mv gimmers to £218 for P L Robinson
Ewe lambs to £162 for A & N Spilman
Store lambs to £98 for Midddleton Brothers

We were pleased to welcome Reverend Catherine Wylie from Lincolnshire Rural & Agricultural Chaplaincy along with LRSN (Lincolnshire Rural Support Network) volunteers who do tremendous work providing help and support to farming and rural folk and their families. Our weekly Louth Livestock Market is open to everyone and always a great place to meet with fellow farmers and feel part of the Lincolnshire agricultural community.
At this year's Partney Fair we delighted in seeing new faces amongst both the buyers and sellers who travelled near and far to come and support the sale. We look forward to welcoming more sheep farmers from the region to our 2nd Special Sale of Mv and Non-Mv Breeding Sheep & Store Lambs on 9th September.
