With our long history of apprenticeships and vocational training, we were absolutely delighted to support our latest Customer Service apprentice, Leila Hall, in her application for the Lincolnshire Apprentice Champions Award earlier this year.

The event, compared by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior, was hosted at The Showroom in Lincoln on 18th May 2023. The awards are run in partnership between the Public Service Compact group, Lincolnshire County Council and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Leila was one of just 24 apprentices shortlisted from 43 entrants across all 6 categories. Those categories included Health and Care, Education, Public Service, Food Manufacturing, Construction and Engineering and Commercial Services.

Leila, pictured here with Senior Sales Negotiator, Violet Woods, who also completed a Customer Services apprenticeship with Masons, won the Commercial Services Champion Award 2023.

“I chose to do this apprenticeship for many reasons, mostly because I have always been interested in property and was very keen to work in Estate Agency.

I was also very keen to get working and gain real-world experience. I researched it a bit more online and discovered more about apprenticeships. This type of practical training in the workplace combined with supportive study felt perfect for me, as I could get the benefit of being able to work within an industry that excited me while studying to gain an apprentice qualification in Customer Service.

Personally, this has been very beneficial for me as I have gained experience in my chosen career while earning money, at the same time developing professionally towards a valuable qualification.

I am learning the latest industry standard IT systems while being able to listen and learn from my senior colleagues on how to negotiate sales. I feel like doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to visualise an exciting career path and motivate me to work towards my goals.”

Leila, Masons fifth apprentice in five years, was endorsed by our Managing Director Simon Williams who said: “As part of her apprenticeship, Leila has received great feedback from her colleagues for her bright personality, can-do attitude, excellent time management, proactive approach and kind, clear and informative manner when speaking to clients, customers and colleagues.”

Congratulations to Leila who has now joined Beth on the Sales Team, both continuing to flourish at Masons, and hoping to mentor our next apprentice some time in the not too distant future.
