One of the best shows of autumn cattle at special livestock market

The 1st Special Autumn Special Show and Sale this year kindly sponsored by Norfolk Farm Vets Ltd with the judging left in the very capable hands of Mr James Loveday who travelled up from Norfolk and regularly attends Louth Livestock Market sales to look to purchase quality cattle in Lincolnshire.
James had his work cut out, with probably one on the best shows of store cattle in the autumn that we have seen for some years.
The native breed cattle shone through and reigned supreme taking both the Overall Championship and the top price per head on the day. The overall championship was awarded to the Class 3 winner consigned by Arthur and Tom of F W Robinson & Son of Horsington. The father and son team are regular consigners at Louth with a tremendous run of cattle at this year’s Autumn Special Show and Sale, selling through the ring first at £1,140.
The show’s reserve champion came from other autumn sale regulars at Louth, P K Farms which saw a top for a British Blue sired bullock at £1,435.
“The day saw all those big, short-keep cattle achieve leading prices, with an W G Hall & Son’s 15-month-old Aberdeen Angus taking top honours selling for £1,495. We also saw very strong prices on bullocks, heifers and a packet of Blue X, and a tremendous pen of pure-bred Simmental heifers gained 3rd prize in the pre-sale show, topped for A & N Spilman & Son at £1,320 going to become breeding cows.” confirmed Louth Livestock auctioneer Oliver Chapman.
